Tags
Inventory Tags allow the addition of text banners or small icons to the top right section of products images on the cart list page and in the summary area of the cart detail page. This can be used to pull the consumers attention to products with specials or promotions.
Product tags are a great way to help emphasize or feature a product. The tag shows on the landing page, category pages, and on the individual SKU. They are text based but can also be images. The text does not currently translate to other languages.
Only one Tag may be active on a product at a time. If a product has been added to multiple tags, the Sort Order will determine which Tag is displayed.
Creating a TAG is a 2 step process. First, you need to create an Inventory Collection THEN, you need to create an Inventory Tag.
STEP 1: CREATE INVENTORY COLLECTION
First, we want to make a new Inventory Collection. This is where the items that have the associated tag will be controlled.
Depts > Inventory > Administration > Inventory Collections
NOTE: This is an older interface, it’s not the best but we can make it work.
When you land on the page, you will see lists of collections. They’re not the most organized but they do impact a lot of areas and reporting so it is important to properly set up the TAG feature here.
NAMING: For TAG functionality, we will be using “TAGS-[COUNTRY]: [type of tag/what it says]”. TAGS (plural) and the country code should be capitalized. This formatting will also help sort all tags for ease in identifying them.
Examples:
TAGS-CAN: 20% off
TAGS-USA: 20% off
TAGS-USA: New Items
When you are sure that the tag does not already exist, then click on NEW (see green box above.)
PINK: Add the title of your new tag. Ensure that the CATEGORY is set to “General.”
GREEN: Scroll through the list and checkmark the SKU(s) that belong in this collection.
The other fields can all be left black as they are not relevant to the use of Tags.
If you need to remove a Tag from a SKU, you simply return here and remove it from the collection by unchecking the blue box as seen above.
STEP 2: INVENTORY TAG
Now navigate to Inventory Tags :
Depts > Inventory > Administration > Inventory Tags
Inside this area, we will make a new set of tags. You can see a list of other tags that already exist. To create a new tag, click on the + sign.
TAG Naming: Please use TAG (singular) for tag category, so we can tell it apart from TAGS collections. (Think of a collection as a lot of things, so it is plural.) Otherwise, structure it similarly to the collections. TAG+[COUNTRY]: [name of offer]
SORT ORDER: The Sort Order is what drives which takes priority. If an item is in two collections with two separate tags, then the higher sort wins in this case. Only one tag can be applied to an item.
ACTIVE CHECKBOX: Click the checkbox to make the tag Active as this is what enables it. This allows you to preprogram promotions or specials and then simply come in and click the box to turn it on when you’re ready. Also simply uncheck to turn off a grouping of tags.
SELECT DISPLAY: The tag can display text (which then uses a blue banner with white text) or an image
Review the images in sandbox. They get squished down when applied to the corner of an item, so a good looking larger image may look odd when shrunk!
Scroll down the list of collections that appear, and put a checkmark next to the TAG COLLECTION(s) that should be part of this actual tag. Then, click on CREATE.
